Aloha and welcome to Pam Petersen Designs!

I am a one-woman production outfit, operating from my home in Wailuku, but have a set-up that allows me to produce work with a very fast turn around time.

For those of you who are getting to know me for the first time, you might be surprised to know that I am also a professional musician, singer and entertainer. You will find the rest of my bio on my main page pampetersen.com

I started sewing at a very young age (as young as 7) when I first started hand making dresses for my barbie dolls. I grew up with my grandmother as my roommate in the Philippines, who was a seamstress - not professional, but she always made our outfits for special occasions (for my siblings and myself). You can say that I learned from watching her, learning to use and repair our manual sewing machine back in the 70s. Growing up, I always found it fascinating to create and build things, trying my way with the saw, hammer, nail and glue. Crafting has always been a hobby and a passion that I never grew tired of.

Later on, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and Management where I learned about drafting, electronics, mechanics, coding and business management (my father is a businessman and holds an Engineering degree too). At the same time, I pursued music and the arts on the side, performing and singing professionally, which eventually brought me to Maui, where I met my husband, Paul (who was at that time apprenticing in the art of guitar making and repair - more info on my other website).

I continued to do gigs as a professional singer and musician until the recession of 2007 hit. We found ourselves suddenly with no gigs as entertainment establishments cut back or closed down. That's when the opportunity hit us, when a cousin noticed an aloha shirt I had made for Paul. You can call it history, but it was the beginning of a new venture and sideline getting myself into the sewing business. Everything was pretty much word of mouth - to this day, all my loyal clientelle have come to me this way.

Here are the services I offer: >Custom couture: wedding dresses, costumes, pagaent dresses, family outfits (show me a picture of what you want and I can make it)
